Going Green at Grady's
Here at Grady’s West Shore Motel, we’re dedicated to fighting climate change and keeping Maine beautiful. Living right on Highland Lake, we get to witness firsthand each day just how amazing our environment truly is, so we’re doing our part to keep it that way. Here’s what we’ve done so far:
Recycling at Grady’s: We’ve placed blue bins under the kitchen sink in each room so our guests can separate out their recycling materials from the trash. Bridgton has provided some terrific and easy to follow guidelines to encourage residents and visitors alike to recycle. Grady’s also participates in the CLYNK program. That means that the proceeds from the recyclable deposit fees get donated to the charity of our choice, Lakes Environmental Association. LEA is at the forefront in protecting the waters and watersheds in our Greater Sebago Lake Region.
Solar Grid System: Although we can never really get away from fossil fuels, Grady’s is working to lower our carbon footprint with a 40+ panel solar electrical system. Our sunny roof is the perfect place for a modern solar array which helps lower our energy consumption and even sends surplus production to the Central Maine Power grid. This system will save 5,679 tons of greenhouse gasses (CO2) per year.
High Efficiency HVAC System: With oil prices on the rise, it only made sense to upgrade our aging heat system and clunky window air conditioner units. Grady’s has installed the highly efficient and ultra quiet Mitsibushi mini splits in each room. The units have a remote control, so guests don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to turn down the AC or heat. They’ll be powered by our solar array so we’re aiming for a zero emissions motel.
We think you’ll appreciate and enjoy the improvements!
