Fun at Shawnee!!

There's been plenty of snow up here in Bridgton this winter, especially compared to areas just to the south.  So with all this snow, it only makes sense to take advantage of the powder and drive 10 minutes up Highway 302 to Shawnee Peak on Mt. Pleasant.  I (Mark) have never lived so close to a ski resort, and I gotta say, it's awesome!

Last week we had a visit from Missy's brother, who is a terrific skier.  I'm a snowboarder myself, so we decided to check out Bridgton's winter treasure.  We had a beautiful, sunny day, with temperatures in the 30's.  Since it was my first time out this year, we decided to start on the Rabbit Run Triple lift and get a few reps on some green runs.  After the warm up, we hit the Pine Quad chair lift to take a few rides on the West Slope trails.  The mountain was in great shape having just been groomed.

With our confidence building, it was time to take the Summit Triple up to the top.  We had a great view of Moose Pond below.  There wasn't much wind, so the ride was comfortable & gave us a chance to review our morning.  Then we hit the Moonshot trail by Tuckerman's Cabin and down the Crossover across to the Horn and down Fat and Happy before finishing on the East Slope.  Great run!  There was no waiting to hop back on the Summit Triple, so away we went for another run.

By then it was time for some lunch, so we headed into the Base Lodge for a slice of pizza and a Diet Coke.  Then it was back to the slopes for some afternoon fun.  By 3:00 we were ready to head back down to Grady's Motel.  It was a blast to get out the board, and I will seriously consider a season pass for next year.  In the meantime, I know I can reload my S-Card online anytime for another fun filled day at Shawnee Peak!!
